The Indefensibles

I'm not going to list it here tonight, but I was thinking about what my all-time top ten favorite films list would look like, and it's a pretty shaggy lot. So I thought I'd make a Rambler contest out of it - How Well Do You Know Dave(s taste)? Get five out of ten right and you win nothing. But still, it'll be fun. Get ten out of ten and I guess I'll have to give you something. Try me and see.

Of course, it'll stop being fun if you look at my Facebook profile to see what films I have listed over there, so don't cheat; you'll only be ruining it for yourself.

Barring actual cheating, I'll give you two hints:

1) Give me way less credit than you think you should give me;
2) The 70's Auteur School? Fuck 'em.

Bo, but coincidentally, I was looking at its Wiki entry just this minute and thinking that I'd like to rewatch it.

That's 'No,' not 'Bo.'

Ok...

Empire STrikes Back
Fantasia
The Black Hole
Indiana Jones
Tron
Vacation - maybe European Vacation

Two right. 'Tron ' & 'Fantasia.'

Never been a huge Indiana Jones fan, and... where did you get 'Vacation' from?

'Empire' would definitely be in my top 20, and I do love 'The Black Hole,' but not enough.

Cannonball Run
Swamp Thing
The Muppets Take Manhattan

Was I close?

I'm not yet sure, but there's a good chance that 'Mirrormask' is in the running. 'Krull' is on my shadow top-ten list, which consists of films that I objectively know aren't very good, but saw as a kid and really have deep affection for.

As far as ST:TMP - http://copper-man.net/2008/01/motionless-picture.html

HOWARD THE DUCK!!!

Yeah, I do like that, and it really is an unaccountable liking (hence the title of the blog) - but there's no way it's in my top ten. Although it probably gets a spot on my shadow list.

It just turned up on Hulu a little while ago - which misses the point, since one of the only reasons to watch that film is for some great special effects, and Hulu is too compressed to show that.

Oh yeah, I forgot you hated ST:TMP.

How 'bout Strange Brew? The toy?

For some reason, 'The Toy' always creeped me out (even creepier knowing that the kid went on to a career in porn).

'Strange Brew.' Hmmm. Not in my top 10, but definitely somewhere in my top 50. Haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember really liking the odd mix of elements.
