I daresay that this is certainly the best Bond theme since A View to a Kill, and possibly even the best since The Spy Who Loved Me. Surprisingly good showing from these two.
Actually, all that sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise. In fact, I think it's a really good song.
Yes, that is Jack on drums, and the drums are awesome. He wrote the song, too.
I'd actually be interested to hear a few more pairings from him and Keyes. This song made me remember for the first time in years that I really liked her when she first came out.
Oh, yeah - this was the one Amy Winehouse was supposed to sing on.
I dunno. I agree that Winehouse is a better singer for some material, but her style is kind of dated. Keys helps to update it. They've got the John Barry musical cues - adding Winehouse would have made it too much of a pastiche.

I agree. Really good. If that's Jack really playing the drums, kudos to him. Great groove and well recorded drums.

Right - Amy Winehouse and her producer were going to write their own, and Jack White and Alicia Keys were Broccoli choice #2.

i'm a purist - if it were up to me they'd just dust shirley bassey off every time.
That just sounds so wrong, phrased that way.
